Joint declaration of the Permanent Representatives of France and Italy to the United Nations in Vienna on the consensus of the State parties to the Palermo Convention regarding a review mechanism to the UNTOC Convention
We highly welcome today’s adoption of the French-Italian resolution on a review mechanism of the implementation of the UN convention on transnational organized crime here in Vienna.
It has been hard work to reach this consensus. The outcome of the 8th Conference of the State parties to the Palermo Convention underlines the willingness of the international community to further strengthen its cooperation in the fight against organized crime.
The next two years give us the opportunity to jointly develop an efficient instrument for the review process here in Vienna. To combat the scourge of transnational organized crime, France and Italy will strongly support the process alongside with our international partners.
