Mr. Luc Oursel, President and CEO of ARE VA, gave a conference on the role of nuclear energy, Wednesday February 20, at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. More than sixty attendees (representatives of permanent missions to the International Organizations in Vienna, IAEA staff, journalists, scientists, etc) listened to Mr. Oursel’s speech on the contributions of nuclear power, its challenges regarding security, safety, non-proliferation and waste management, as well as its key success factors.

The conference was followed by open exchanges on various topics, such as Areva’s business projects, strategic energetic orientations worldwide after the accident of Fukushima, nuclear market projections, assistance towards “newcomer” countries or nuclear power station dismantling activities.
Biography: Mr. Luc Oursel joined the AREVA group in 2007 as President and CEO of AREVA NP. He was appointed President and CEO of AREVA on June 30, 2011. Mr. Luc Oursel is a graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris.
